How long will it take to get the permit?
- Permits are available shortly after the application is submitted providing it is done during the Kentucky office business hours which are Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m..
NOTE: Super loads will take from 10 to 12 working days. Depending on routes, all loads weighing 200,000 lbs and up will be considered for a bridge analysis, loaded or empty. All trailers with trunion axles will automatically be submitted for bridge analysis. All loads 15' high & up requires a pole car escort.

What are the legal dimensions in Kentucky?

What is the maximum overhang allowed?

1/3 of the trailer length rounded down to the nearest foot.
The overhang can not exceed 35’ total.

What are the holiday restrictions for Kentucky?

Kentucky does not have any restrictions for Holiday’s unless otherwise noted on the permit.

What are the travel time restrictions for Kentucky?

All Overweight/Overdimensional moves, except mobile homes, can
travel 24 hours a day 7 days a week unless otherwise noted
on the permit. Mobile homes movements are restricted to Monday
thru Saturday daylight hours only and no travel permitted
Sunday.

What counties have time travel restrictions?
- No travel permitted for any Overweight /Overdimensional loads
in Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Fayette, and Jefferson or at Owensboro
KY 2155 bridge (between KY & IN) from 7 – 9 am or
4 -6 pm, Monday thru Friday.

Can a single trip permit be amended?

No. The only exception is if the Permit Section makes an error
in issuing the permit, that error can be corrected upon request.

If I violate my Single Trip permit what will happen?

The permit will be confiscated by enforcement and be sent back
to the Permit Section, at that time it will become Null/Void.
The carrier will then have to reorder a new Single Trip permit
& may be subject to penalties from Enforcement.

Can a Single Trip permit be faxed?

Yes. Unlike the Annual permit the Single Trip permit does not have
to be the original.
